14th Annual Diabetes Update

 This full day CME event provides an educational opportunity for regional and national health care professionals, health plans, scientists and other consultants, and is designed to improve awareness and clinical care outcomes of diabetes and diabetes related co-morbidities, and to meet identified needs of diabetes clinicians in our area.

Healthier Schools

Many children consume at least half of their daily calories at school. As families work to ensure our kids eat right and have active play at home, we also need to ensure our kids have access to healthy meals in their schools. With more than 31 million children participating in the National School Lunch Program and more than 11 million participating in the National School Breakfast Program, good nutrition at school is more important than ever. Let’s move to get healthier food in our nation’s schools.

Promoting Healthy Lifestyle Awards

The Sussex Child Health Promotion Coalition is Seeking Nominations from members of the Coalition for the Bi annual Promoting Healthy Lifestyle Awards. This award recognizes specific members, organizations or business’s in Sussex County who promote healthy eating or active living in the community or in business. The person or organization nominated does not have to be a current member of the coalition to receive the award. Four awards will be given at the next Quarterly Meeting on April 22, 2010.

For the first year in Delaware, TeenPact Leadership School will be conducting their nationally acclaimed Government and Leadership class at the capitol in Dover-March 22-26, 2010.

The Fourth Annual Community Walk

The Sussex Child Health Promotion Coalition, the town of Laurel, Bridgeville, Georgetown, Lewes and the city of Seaford along with our senior partner Nemours Health & Prevention Services invite the community out to our fourth promoting health with our Sussex County “Spring into Health Community Walk”. This walk is being held simultaneously in all five towns.
