Trasition to a Healthy Eating, Active Living Community
This Sussex County Transition to a Healthy Eating, Active Living Community magazine highlights the accomplishments of the Sussex Child Health Coalition and NHPS and offers tips to help families participate in a healthier lifestyle of proper eating and exercise. Nationwide, a Let’s Move campaign was started this year by First Lady Michelle Obama. Delaware Emergency Medical Diabetes Fund

Those who are not eligible for the program are those who are not diabetic, cannot prove that a diabetes related medical emergency exists, have other insurance or have full Medical Assistance benefits that provide coverage for the services, medications or supplies requested.

Diabetes Self-Management Program
Starting September 15, 2010
Plan to attend this FREE 6-Week class “A program designed for people living with type 2 diabetes” at Greenwood CHEER. Participants will make weekly action plans, share experiences, and help each other solve problems they encounter in creating and carrying out their diabetes self-management program.

Learn what the Western Sussex Boys & Girls Club has to offer this fall and winter like the JES Swim Lessons, Winter Swim Teams and New Pool Memberships are now available. Other programs include Aqua Aerobics, Aqua Jogging, Ellis and Associates Lifeguard Certifications, JES Swim Lesson Instructor Certifications, CPR, Canoe Basics and Friday Night Family Nights which are always FREE.

Nanticoke Health Services plans annual Golf Tournaments
September 23rd & 24th
Nanticoke Health Services will be hosting the twenty-fourth annual golf tournament on Thursday, September 23 and Friday, September 24, 2010 at Heritage Shores Club in Bridgeville, Delaware. Thursday’s tournament will be Ladies Day, and Friday’s tournament will be the traditional tournament open to men and women.

Join our 5k walk for the prevention and treatment of heart disease in Sussex County. Sunday, September 12. Registration begins at 8:00 AM and the walk begins at 9:00 AM from George H.P. Smith Park at Blockhouse Pond in Lewes. Convenient parking is available at Beebe Medical Center at 424 Savannah Road, Lewes.
